Johnson’s five scores lift D-NH

DIKE — Trent Johnson rushed for 297 yards and five touchdowns, lifting Dike-New Hartford to a 49-20 victory over Jesup in its regular-season finale.
    The Wolverines (7-2 overall) finish 5-1 in Class 1A, District 4 and will host Bellevue in a first-round playoff game Wednesday.

AGWSR downs West Fork 56-13

ACKLEY – The AGWSR football team closed out a strong regular season with a decisive 56-13 win over West Fork Friday night, bringing their 2014 record to 8-1 overall, 5-1 in District A-4 for a second place finish in the district. The Cougars were slated to host a first round Class A playoff game with Bishop Garrigan, Algona (6-3 overall, 4-2 District A-3) on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 7:00 p.m.  

Kenneth Schelling

Kenneth Howard Schelling, 90, of Marshalltown passed away October 28, 2014, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services for Kenny were  November 1 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation was held October 31 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Arvilla L. Miller Smith

Arvilla L. Miller Smith of Upland, CA., formerly of Grundy Center, graduated in 1943 was born on May 6, 1925.  She passed on Ocboter 5, 2014.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 25, at the Rose Hill Cemetary.
She worked for Lanternman State Hospital in Pamona for 25 years.
 

Carol Harken McLaughlin

Carol Nadine Harken McLaughlin was born to Lester and Louise Harken on March 21, 1940, in Holland, and died peacefully at home on October 6, 2014.

Joy Schildroth

Joy Aileen Schildroth, age 56, of Grundy Center entered eternity with her Savior  on October 25, 2014.  She passed away at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her adoring family.
Joy always strived for excellence in everything she did, and she was especially passionate about ministering through music.  In honor of this, a memorial fund has been established at Greenbelt Bank and Trust to enhance the music ministry at First Baptist Church where she served faithfully.  In lieu of flowers, Joy’s family requests that contributions be made to this fund.

Donald Tomlinson

Donald William Tomlinson, 88, of Traer passed away October 21, 2014, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer with family at his side after a brief illness with cancer.  Funeral Services were held October 24 at the United Presbyterian Church in Traer with Pastor Brice Hoyt officiating. Interment followed at Buckingham Cemetery in Traer.  A memorial fund has been established.
Donald was born on September 4, 1926, in Traer, the son of William and Janet (Addison) Tomlinson. He graduated from Dinsdale High School in 1944.

Caroline A. Fuls

Caroline A. Fuls, 81, of Grundy Center died October 28, 2014, at her home while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. A funeral service was held November 1 at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. Visitation was October 31at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Burial followed funeral services at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to the family.
