Betty Lou Pabst

GRUNDY CENTER – Betty Lou Pabst, age 93, of Grundy Center, passed away Oct. 18 at Creekside Living in Grundy Center.
Graveside services were held Monday, Nov. 3 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.
Betty Lou Pabst was born and raised in Parkersburg in the 1930s and 1940s, a teenager by the end of World War II. She married Russel Pabst in 1950. Together they raised two boys, Doug and Randy, and managed a 240-acre farm for 30 years.
In addition to daily duties in the livestock and grain farming operation, Betty had an acre sized garden and a basement full of canned vegetables. Her house was always impeccably neat and tidy. She was an embodiment of Martha Stewart and Betty Crocker.
Betty retired to Grundy Center in the early 1980s. She traveled twice to Germany to visit her son and travelled with her son’s family to see her great granddaughter Ruby baptized in 2009. She also travelled frequently to visit her son in Nebraska and Wisconsin in the 2000s. In late 2021 her health deteriorated and she has resided at Creekside Living since late 2021.
Betty is survived by her son Douglas and his life partner Anne, granddaughter Jerredy in Obernburg, Bavaria, Germany, grandson Gordon in Olympia, Washington, grandson Shane of Parkersburg, great grandchildren Thomas, Joseph, Brandon and Ruby in Obernburg, Germany and Jacob in Olympia, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her husband Russell and son Randy.
